Scarlet Rae turns grief, instinct, and DIY recording into No Heavy Goodbyes
Scarlet Rae is a Los Angeles-born, New York City-based artist whose solo work began to emerge in 2020 after years of playing in bands and making songs at home. Sources describe her music as blending understated acoustic instrumentation, shoegaze gloom, and whispery vocals, with No Heavy Goodbyes built from apartment demos and later refined with producer Jordan Lawlor. The release is shaped by grief and acceptance, and Rae has said she writes to make music that can matter to listeners. Her path runs through Rose Dorn, early garage-band experiments, and a move to Brooklyn during the pandemic, where she kept building her sound. Two tracks from the EP invite a close listen: Bleu and A World Where She Left Me Out.
