Living Body’s Leeds project grows from solo recording into a collaborative band
Living Body is a Leeds-based project led by Chicagoan multi-instrumentalist Jeff T. Smith, and the sources describe its sound as built from pop, indie, math, shoegaze, and post-rock elements. The debut album Body Is Working appeared in 2016, and the band later returned with newer material after a long gap. Smith’s interview points to a songwriting process shaped by recording, layered voices, and a wish to make bleak subject matter feel like release. The project also has documented links to live double drumming and a touring lineup that includes longtime collaborators. Two good entry points are the debut-era track Choose and the later single CONSUMER.
