Joel Culpepper: the story and songs to start with

Joel Culpepper’s Sgt Culpepper arrives as a chaptered debut rooted in soul, community, and self-belief

Joel Culpepper is a south-east London R&B and soul artist whose debut album Sgt Culpepper was shaped as a story, with chapters and a journey for the listener. The supplied sources describe a two-year process, a close creative partnership with Swindle, and a record that draws on community, personal reflection, and wider social commentary. Across the project, the artist presents himself through vulnerability, leadership, and uplift rather than polish alone, making the album feel like an introduction to both his voice and his values.
