Cactus Lee: an Austin project built from home recordings and local stages
Cactus Lee is Kevin Dehan’s Austin-based project, and the sources trace it from home recording into a rotating live group. Dehan says he began writing for the project after stepping back from club bands, then built early songs at home and at Dry Creek Café. The discography in the provided sources shows releases under the Cactus Lee name beginning in 2019, including Texas Yard Sale and the later album Lee’s Dream. On Lee’s Dream, the songs were developed during a monthlong solo tour and then recorded at Fort Horton Studios with additional players. The result is presented as a community-shaped body of work rooted in Austin, Texas and Dehan’s own path.
